Greater
Calcutta Gas Supply Corporation Ltd (GCGSCL) inherited
the technical skill and experiences of Gas culture
from Oriental Gas Company’s Undertaking (OGCU), the
first company to illuminate the streets of City of
Calcutta since 1857.
GCGSC
became a proud ally of modern & technologically
advanced Energy giant – Coal India Ltd (CIL) by distributing
coal gas produced by it in its DANKUNI plant.
Main
object of GCGSC is to supply coal gas produced at
Dankuni Coal Complex (DCC) of CIL and the Durgapur
Projects Ltd (DPL) through its newly developed distribution
Network in Calcutta & Howrah (West Bengal, India)
to Industrial, Commercial and domestic consumers.
As futuristic measure GCGSCL is exploring possibility
of supplying imported natural gas and coal bed methane
(cbm) to its consumers.
